About Us

I started this in 2018 for a reason that had nothing to do with business.

My child had cradle cap. I had natural hair I was still learning. And I was in the part of early motherhood where you are caring for someone else's head before you have touched your own, and you still have to walk out the door looking like a person who has it together.

So I started sewing. Turbans for my baby first, then pre-tied wraps for me, because tying one properly took time I did not have at seven in the morning.

That became Sweet Embrace, and for years I made every single one by hand.

What changed

I have a master's in public health and a background in biology, and for a long time I kept that separate from the sewing. It was a business, not a subject.

Then I spent enough years around women growing their hair out to notice the same thing over and over. They were not short on products. They were short on information. Nobody had told them the difference between growth and retention. Nobody had explained why the pile of hair after a takedown looks the way it does. Nobody had mentioned that early tension damage is often reversible and late damage frequently is not.

They were doing everything they had been told, and quietly believing their hair just did not grow.

What we do now

Embrace & Co. is two things.

We publish what we know, for free, about protecting hair through long-term protective styles. Not a product routine. The parts nobody covers, especially the days between styles, where most of the damage actually happens.

And we make one wrap, by hand, in Louisiana. It exists because the honest reason women skip resting their hair is not laziness. It is that in-between hair does not look finished and life does not pause. Thirty seconds, no tension, and you look like you meant it.

One product, three colours, made to order. Nothing gets added because it seems adjacent.

A note on what I am and am not

I am not a dermatologist and I am not your stylist. What I have is public health training, a biology background, and eight years of paying close attention. Where something needs a doctor, I will say so plainly, because a brand that tries to handle everything is not one worth trusting.

Embrace & Co. is a DBA of Sweet Embrace LLC, Louisiana.
